The Estrela Aspiring Geopark intends, through its initiatives and close work with local agents, to contribute to the improvement of the population’s quality of life, giving great importance to education, sport, arts, culture and tourism, promoting the territorial competitiveness of the Serra da Estrela destination.

Thus, by promoting the valorisation and preservation of geological heritage, in a clear association with the rest of the natural and cultural heritage existing in the territory, and fomenting the development of tourism, the Estrela Aspiring Geopark intends to use geology as a means to promote the development of its communities.
